Blossom
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to Blossom. Anais Nin

Wow, great texture and tone to this shot.
Suzanne: Thank you! summer flowers have for the most part faded but the dahlias are in full bloom...a last burst of blossoming before winter.
Hey, you're back. And with a gorgeus shot!
I'm not familiar with Anais Nin, but after reading this, I'm sure I'll start digging her up. Z
Suzanne: Viktor, Thank you! Anais Nin is a writer full of insight, psychological depth and the poetry of life as it's lived each and every day. She had a long and complicated relationship with Henry Miller and her journals are very descriptive of the artistic climate and significant people of the time she lived in...Otto Rank, Carl Jung, Gore Vidal, Antonin Artaud, Surrealism... She wrote "We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are." which I think is a great quote for Shutterchancers who post bits of themselves with every photo they share...
ooooooooh yeah...lovely lovely lovely!!!
Suzanne: Ohhhhh! Thank you...
superbe
Suzanne: Merci Fulos..les dernières fleurs avant l'hiver..
This is definitely a Likey for me, Suzanne! And the poem is perfect.
Suzanne: Oh thank you Ginnie..a likey is always a wonderful compliment. Glad you liked the poem.
this has a wonderful sensuous feel that makes you want to reach out and touch it
Suzanne: I did! I had them all over the house...
What a beautiful return - welcome back Suzanne.
And those words are sending shivers up and down my spine - always a sign of Truth! It's very interesting seeing a flower in b&w, isn't it? It makes one more aware of its sculptural yet never fixed shapes. And there's a real sense of unfurling in this. Lovely.
Suzanne: I am very attracted to textures. The color version is certainly brigher and bursting with candy colors but I was fascinated by the play of light on the petals and b/w was the only way to go. Thank you so much, Penny. It's good to be back!
An excellent and artistic picture : Thumbs up !!
Suzanne: Merci Zeb..ce sont les fleurs qui sont artistiques..je ne fais que documenter leur beauté...
totally gorgeous Suzanne. mal
Suzanne: Thanks so much, Mal.
This is lovely!
Suzanne: Thank you so much, Stan!
I love flower shots, this is a cracker, great tones and textures. Sounds as though you live in a great place, there is something so romantic about islands.
Suzanne: Thank you Alistair. I do live in a wonderful place...Island are challenging sometimes especially small ones like Gabriola... but romantic, absolutely! No doubt about that!
I will learn light with Suzanne again, and again..
Suzanne: Really?!!! thank you so much for that commment!
This is another fine image of yours, Suzanne. it's a likey for me as well! Poetry.
Suzanne: Looks like there are lots of flower lovers on Shutterchance. Thank you for the wonderful compliment, Kay.
This is absolutely stunning. I am in awe of the light and textures. I will be adding this to my likeys.
Suzanne: Thank you so very much! There is something about the transluscence of petals that can be absolutely magical.
Absolutely fantastic!
Suzanne: hi Judith¡ Thank you....
Oh, Suzanne- I have been so self-obsessed recently what with changing my camera and having a low creative spell that I have missed so many good images by others.
Now I am getting round to revisiting my favourites, I discover this- not only the best recent image, but probably the most perfect image on the entire shutterchance archive. It is, quite simply breathtaking- I love it so much, can this please be regarded as an official approach for a print to frame on my wall. Please contact me if this is possible to discuss, but most of all, be proud of this stunning bit of art-beautiful.
this is phenomenally beautiful and I'm glad I stumbled upon it! Truly inspirational, it is so rich in everything: from beauty to texture to tone and more
