What the trees do
Can you imagine? For example, what the trees do not only in lightning storms or the watery dark of a summer's night or under the white nets of winter but now, and now, and now - whenever we're not looking. Surely you can't imagine they don't dance, from the root up, wishing to travel a little, not cramped so much as wanting a better view, or more sun, or just as avidly more shade - surely you can't imagine they just stand there loving every minute of it, the birds or the emptiness, the dark rings of the years slowly and without a sound thickening, and nothing different unless the wind, and then only in its own mood, comes to visit, surely you can't imagine patience, and happiness, like that. What an incredible poem, Suzanne, for this image. That is one I want to keep!
Suzanne: Thank you Ginnie..I like that one too!
Great shot and a lovely poem to match Suzanne
Suzanne: Thank you, Tracy. It's always a bit of challenge to find the right poem or words to fit my photos but Mary Oliver always comes to mind for me.
Nice textures and framing in this shot. Thank you for sharing the poem as well.
Suzanne: Thank you very much, Jewlya. Glad you appreciate the poem too.
Very nice poem well illustrated
Suzanne: Thank you, Richard. The image always comes first then words that fit my feeling sense at the time I took the photo.
Suzanne, this is wonderful! I love the touch of green grass in the bottom of the frame. I'm not sure what the small wooden structure is (part of a fence?) but it adds a nice element to the overall composition. And I love the prose you chose...it's perfect
Suzanne: I'm not sure what that is either. It was propped up against the wire fence. Behind the trees is a most amazing garden called Good Earth. A couple on the island grow flowers (and veggies) and make the most incredible bouquets that they sell at our summer farmer's market. Thank you for your lovely comment, Deb.
What a wonderful tangle of trees! Beautiful poetry, too. I love it! (:o)
Suzanne: ...'tangle of trees'..a great description. Thank you, Rosalyn.
This has 'Suzanne' stamped all over it. This is your unmistakable style and I love it.
Suzanne: Thank you, Jose. That is a very lovely thing to say.
well those in Leeds are getting very wet at the moment
Suzanne: wet here too..glad you like the photo. Thanks, Tim.
I agree with Rosalyn- well done.
Suzanne: Thank you, Jamoula. Very much appreciated.
This is a cool abstract ..
Suzanne: Interesting that you see it as an abstract...must be the tumble and jumble of branches. Thank you, Shakara.
your style is unique Suzanne
Poem and image...what a nice idea!
Suzanne: Nicola! So nice to see you here. It's been a long time! "Poem and image"..now I wonder who I got that from?!
Superb poem Suzanne, thank you for that
I think trees talk to each other when we aren't listening
Suzanne: Thank you, Ellie. I'm aware that whenever I put up a Mary Oliver poem she steals the show..
I like the denseness of the branches in the top half of the shot - has quite an abstract quality to the rhythm.
Suzanne: I was quite taken with the density and the flow of the branches. Thank you, Blackdog.
How spooky! My favourite of all your images was posted almost exactly one year ago (9th Jan.) had a similar mood to this, and had a wonderfully apt Mary Oliver poem attached- perhaps this is how you see and feel in Januarys!
Wonderful as always Suzanne.
Suzanne: Thank you, David. I had to go back into my archive to see which photo you meant and yes, you are right, I can see similarities. Without knowing I used Mary Oliver poems for both of them...must be that January mood of mine!
quel fouillis
Beautiful - Bravo !!
Nice and deep. Thanks for showing and speaking this. You have lots of interesting comments! Sherrlyn

My stroll through your photographic space has been very enjoyable. You know things look like. Sorry, I have no negative criticism for your collection. We apologize for the inappropriate language.
